Manages a project team in the areas of cost control, document control, schedule management, risk management, management of change and coordination with the Contracts and Procurement Departments.

Detailed Description

  • Supervises the project controls group and leads to ensure that the project is following the process and procedures for project management best practices.

  • Supervises the cost control team which is responsible for tracking and controlling budgets, commitments, accruals, expenditures and contingency drawdown during the duration of the project.

  • Supervises the logistics and document controls group.

  • Supervises the scheduling team in the development and use of the integrated project schedule.

  • Supervises the information management activities on the project including document control, final documentation and contractor coordination

  • Supervises the daily work of contractors and approves the output of the project services team prior to the approvals of the project management team.

  • Manages the preparation of the project weekly and monthly reports utilizing data generated from the project team.

  • Ensures contractors have implemented effective cost, schedule and document controls.

  • Identifies project cost exposures and overrun risks in a timely manner to allow informed mitigation decisions and actions.

  • Monitors and analyzes contractor project schedules and detailed engineering task schedules. Advises the project manager of deviations and potential problems and recommends corrective actions.

  • Verifies performance metrics are in line with the project requirements, such as deliverables and milestones.

  • Develops and administers the processes and procedures to be utilized by the project services team in accordance with the Asset Services guidelines.

  • Participates in the compilation, review and issuance of Requests for Proposals for project equipment & services

  • Responsible for the coordination of the overall risk control management.

  • Participates in the analysis and review of contractor submitted proposals, including schedule and cost clarifications.

  • Supervises the project contract change management process throughout the execution phase of the project.

Develops and oversees project s-curves that compare planned versus actual progress and expenditures

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • PMP Preferred

  • Typically requires 5 years relevant experience in upstream and/or downstream oil and gas development projects

  • Thorough understanding of and experience in successfully championing the utilization of various computer based project management tools such as Ecosys, Filenet, Primavera and Microsoft Project.

  • Extensive of experience in successfully coordinating the efforts of project services professionals in diverse areas of responsibility to produce cohesive and complementary results.
